A brief bio about Yvonne and her work

I trained as an Art Historian and Art Teacher, and subsequently taught Art and History of Art and Design in schools and at further education college, as well as teaching Patchwork and Quilting for the Adult Education Service. I now have a busy schedule teaching Patchwork, Quilting, Embroidery and Creative Textiles on a free-lance basis while continuing to produce my own work for exhibitions.

With my background in art and my strong interest in art history, particularly the medieval, together with a passion for fabrics and threads, I am constantly exploring ways to use textiles as an artistic medium in an exciting and experimental way to obtain images that have a tactile and, at times, a three dimensional surface, with a richness and depth not often possible by more conventional means. My inspiration is found in the natural world and from art historical sources.

I work from my studio at home in Norfolk producing pieces for exhibition and to commission. I am now exhibiting widely and several examples of my work are held by private collectors.

My studio is available for small groups of students - no more than 6, for workshops from my teaching list. I am prepared to travel throughout the UK for talks and workshops. Please contact me for details.
